PR INDUSTRY TO HAVE A LARGER ROLE IN COMMUNITY.

Dear all,

 Healthcare is a very important aspect of the society .It is encouraging to see how Public Relation officers can use their exprties to create awarness and maintain this  integral part of the society by reaching the general public and make a concious effort to help people at all stages .Health care agency bosses have  told PR week that the guidance published by the National Institute for health and clinical excellence (NICE) creats a welter of opportunities for PROs .

The PR industry will be influential in helping health services providers to convey health messeges to people at a local level.Providers need to start engaging with local communities in a language and format that they can understand and makes a real difference .

At the NHS where local government and voluntary organisations work together on planning and delivering services ,there is a huge opprtunity for PRO,s.They can bring together their knowledge of multicultural comms,digital media and youth marketing to engage hard to reach audiencs .

First of all id like to share a concept which would help public relations practioners have an effective,comprehensive and memorable model to use in understanding and harnessing the creative process .A very interesting mnemonic has been devised .

By understanding these five I’s in their distinct stages ,we can identify any weakness on our efforts to produce a creative solution .

LIES DAMN LIES AND THE PUBLIC RELATIONS ….

Hi everyone,I am reading a very interesting book called ‘Lies,damn lies and the public relations industry ” .There is a quote from a chapter that particulalry interested me and left me thinking about the public relations  , psychological marketting skills for a while with a smile on my face !!!

 A statement by Warren Buffett:‘Ill tell you why i like the cigerette buisness .It costs a penny to make .Sell it for a dollar.Its addictive .And there is fantastic brand loyalty….”

 Smoking and women :A very intriguing viewpoint about women smoking and a campaign based on the slogan “Reach for a lucky instead of a sweet “.The campaign playes on womens worries about their weight and increased lucky sales three folds in just three months ! However,smoking remained a taboo for ‘RESPECTABLE ” women …At the end of the day,Its all about good PR and Marketting …………..(-: 

SOCIALISING VIA SOCIAL MEDIA!

Dear friends ,I made a very interesting observation while working in the library today and thought i would share it with  you all since everyone has been trying to keep pace with the ever growing social media and trends that change at the speed of lightening !!! i realised how people utilise podcasting as a medium to communicate and how at all levels work actully starts suffering without the use of these gadgets !! My friend and i walked in,rented a laptop and started reading and typing away,even though we have enough and more books available at the library,not a single person was without a laptop!!!wheather it was studying,research or emails ,each one had their eyes fixed on the gadget …

 Suddenly my eyes caught the attention of this girl who looked completely distressed as she told her friend how her mobile had died and how incomplete she felt ,so “disconnected” …it brought a smile to our faces as we discussed how we were all so “addicted ” to these electronics and how everyone liked to consider themselves”techno savy” !!! It let to an interesting analysis and by the end of it we walked home with our ipods tucked away in our pockets and ear phones plugged in…we got home,turned on our laptops ,it is almost like a reflex action !! back to the grind …The essential gadgets which are a luxury to own…all a part of social media and podcasting … 

PODCASTING …

An informative start to our day,yesterday morning with a guest lecture from one of the pioneers of podcasting,Anna Farmery who is a buisness coach and speaker .She talked to us about podcasting and the use of it in Public relations and marketing .The practical examples given by her about her experiences of interviewing some very well known personalities with a small device was indeed enlightening .It was a good exposure on the aspect of podcasting and the accessibility of information due to various devices etc.Anna told us how blogs and podcastes are the modern equivelent to pamphelets .

 Social media is a very fast growing aspect .It is always important to have a sense of brand personality .Podcast is a hybrid of broadcast and the ipod.I listened to a very fun audio which is an interview by Anna Farmery with a person called Mike O Harra of voices in buisness who describes himslf as a podcaster .They taked about the link between music and podcasting as music and podcasting engage people .

The Engaging Brand is a very interesting blog and a good source of information for bloggers all over ……..I am sure everyone was more enthusiastic about the podcasting part of the growing social media and the maximum use of it in the fast evolving environment …
